Back to Back? Probably not, especially when you do take into account those absentees. They are all pretty important players. It will be pretty hard to fill those shoes over night. I certainly don’t think we will finish last though.
The great thing about that squad is the influx of young kids. Will be good to see if some of those guys can step up. Also good to see a guy like Richard Michell make the squad.
Oh and GO SOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thatta kid!
Didnt Jelksy try to influx a lot of young kids in a couple of years ago and we all know were that ended up. Lot of those young guys are struggling in state league and some arnt even playing league.
But seriously just chucked in 33 names of my own that in my opinion would be a better overall squad.
Catchers
Toby Barnett(Him and Housey to share catching dutys maybe housey could catch Reevesy and Hendriks)

2nd Base
Mitch Graham

Josh McGee(Cant believe 8 Under 18s were picked and the only guy thats actualy hitting over 2 bucks is left out WOW)
1st base
Lachlan Dale
Ben Needle(Probaly DH)
Drew Harris(Always has pretty good numbers, Highly rate him)
Matt Kennelly
Outfield
Clint Balgera

Kanoble – looks like a much better squad but in reality who of these players that you have included have actually put their hand up to play? Im sure if that was the case and they did put their hand up they would have made the squad. Don well done on promoting youth! It will be a tough year but I hope BWA have the patience to see what you are doing and keep you on board……
I was a big supporter of Needle and Balgera in the side but if they arent going to play well…..we cant make them – unless hte league put together another 30 man protection list between the Heat and the SL! But thats another story.
“kanoble” firstly, about jelksy trying to promote youth and where did that end up. how about a championship ring. everyone was aware of the heat trainings/tryouts so if they wanted to play they would have come down. you cant force people to want to play. and bredan wise as a starter. he has been a closer or set up man for the past 4 years. leaving off scott mitchinson, probably the best pitcher on the squad. or and you also forgot shane tonkin’s name. isn’t he the lead leader in ERA???
Jnr, hahaha. nice idea about the protection list.
Didnt mean to leave Mitchinson out my Mistake. Don’t know the story on needle or baggy but i think nobody cant say there not in the best 9 if they want to play. Youve got to think about how useful Tonks is going to be to the Heat compared to other guys.
What do you mean a championship ring, the team that won the ring was completley different to the team that came last the year before.
From BWA site: Tim Kennelly, Chris Goadby and Lachlan Dale added to squad today.
I think you make a fair point Kanoble that there are possibly better players out there. But I am sure this is the best team from the guys who made themselves available.
And even if we do finish last, I think the experience a few of the younger guys get will be invaluable. At some point you have to concede that it’s inevitable at that level that you will have to take a step backwards to be able to take three forward.
However, don’t be surprised if we still win it all. I’m sure DK has a few tricks up his sleeve.
yeah i agree, needle and baggy r both in the best 9 for sure. but maybe they ended on a good note. a championship.
the team that jelksy had with the younger guys wasn’t much different to the championship team. it just shows what a difference a bit of experience does to the younger guys but like hub said. you may need to take a step backwards to go forwards. you cant have the same team forever. you need to get younger guys coming through and even being on the squad and training with the team, even if they don’t make the final squad, is going to benefit them
Drew Harris – I know he would be laughing at you…
Why would he be laughing, guy went to college and backs up week in week out.
alright first of all smit is now an outfielder so he wont be at 2nd base
dixon looks like playing after uni exams as well
wise wont be a starter he is the australian closer so hendriks is more setup or mid relief if anything
the younger guys when jelksy coached last time were hendriks smit kennelly house those guys are all playing league and playing in the states
they are now more mature with smit and house actually coming down this year which should be good to see
adamson will be ok against some teams but just needs to put the ball on the ground and run and he will be fine
they wont finish last but it will be hard to go back to back
although SA is meant be terrible
victoria lost weichard at the least and harmon i think wont be playing
agree with player that the young guys down at training will certainly help them out in the long run
hpoe they do alright again though hopefully mark kelly will be back for the clakko as well
Went did smit turn in to an outfielder, wasnt he signed as an infielder.
signed as an infielder but turned into outfield with the indians draft
they picked up a couple of high round shortstops and just wanted to keep his bat in the lineup
