After a disappointing end to the Barbagallo Perth HEAT’s 2010 Domino’s Claxton Shield campaign, attention now turns to who will be crowned the HEAT’s Most Valuable Player in 2010.

Will it be starters Dylan Peac*** or Daniel Schmidt, infielders Mitch Graham or Luke Hughes or outfield duo Tim Kennelly or Nick Kimpton?

TK would have to win by a long way surely.

I really expected big things from the heat, lost a couple of winable games trough the season that ended up hurting them.

Surely de San contributed to the pitchers stats and together with his offense and the way he controls the game should be the pick to win MVP

Des san????

de San for MVP? Are you serious? .262 Avg, 0 HR, 10 RBI and not to mention 6 errors as the catcher. Not even close to the likes TK, Luke Hughes, Nick Kimpton or even Matt Kennelly who was outstanding at 1st base. Or another surprise is Todd Murphy – 1.98 Era in 13.2 innings of relief?

Tim Kennelly will get the MVP and he should win the HELMS, but they might give it to someone from a team that makes the GF

Gee

Both teams travel on the same c***py timetable, and believe it or not… both teams play on the same field. In any case it is baseball and embarrassing to be used as an excuse!

Really???

@Des San????
Todd Murphy for MVP! Are you for real????
The guy wasn’t even selected for the squad that played the Aces in the Heat’s last chance to make the finals!

Gee, the west to east road trip is a lot tougher than the east to west, the Heat guys were up at 3am on a friday morning for a 5:30am flight, fly for 5 hours to arrive around 1:00pm, drive for 30 mins to an hour to their hotel to check in, before getting maybe an hour’s sleep before they headed to the field for BP at around 4pm for a 7:05pm start… to say that all teams had the same c***py timetable is just not true, considering the teams to visit Perth had a whole day here before the opening game of a series, the Heat would have been lucky to have a few hours to re-coup.

And Really???, Todd Murphy did an outstanding job in relief this season and is not given the credit he deserves.

Really???

Not saying that Todd Murphy didn’t have a good season, but you can’t bring him up in MVP conversations, especially when he was dropped for the last series of the season!

Really???

WOW, I watched enough games of the Heat this year to know that Todd Murphy is not in consideration for the MVP award. When does a middle relief guy EVER win a MVP award? Also it IS Todd’s fault that he wasn’t selected for the last series of the season. If he had of been as good as you say he was it wouldn’t have been an option for DK and the coaching staff not to pick him for a series. Someone like Ben Grice or young Warrick Saupold, who are used in the same role as Todd, would have missed out.

Going by the stats Todd Murphy had a great summer but I agree that it’s hard to consider him when he missed a series and is a relief pitcher. I think tk would be very stiff not to win the heat and the leagues MVP because he had an outstanding summer.

WOW how did the coaches screw up in the last series who threw badly in the last series that todd could of replaced. Todd is a good pitcher but there were match ups to concider amd roles to concider.

Des San???

I never said anything about Murphy winning it, there is no way you can go past Tim Kennelly. I was simply stating that even Todd had a batter chance then de san did at winning it.

De San??

Oh and just so your aware Really??? Todd Murphy threw the most innings in relief. He also had the best ERA out of all pitchers besides Richard Michelle who only threw 5.2 innings. He threw better then Grice (5.59era) and Wise (4.91) and threw more innings then them combined, yet Wise is meant to be the Number 1 relief??
So no question that he should have been in the line up.

De San?? Todd Murphy did have a good year but he also didnt pitch when the games were close. and Wisey isnt number 1 relief he is the closer and when he wasnt there. Saupold was the closer so the coaching staff obviously didnt think todd could throw in a close situation and Saupold and Grice could.

Ummm

Ernie Dingo..not sure if you know what your talking about..being a closer is a relief pitcher??? A closer is just a classiffication of relief pitcher just like middle, long and set-up!!! And obviously the coaching staff didnt know what they were doing because Saupold and Grice gave up 4 losses combined; thats 4 out of the 5 given up by relief pitchers….still think they shouldnt have gone with todd huh??

Umm Saupold and grice came in when it was close most of the times with runners on and todd came in when the games was blown out so that why they have losses. Saupold also had 2 saves and pitched really well against Vics. As for Grice he has gotten the starters out of a few jams. Wise is a closer yer which is a relief pitcher but its a specific role. Todd would not replace Wise because todd is not a closer. he is a long relief or a starter. And thats wat the coaching staff had him in the team as.

Umm

Ernie… Since when was todd in the team to be a starter??
Grice got starters out of a few jams… maybe but he also cost games and so did Wozza.. You cant argue against the stats of Todd Murphy..Should have been in the team but was cut as part of a series of very poor dicisions by the coaching staff like, playing your son in front of Dallas Christison, not pitching Dylan Peac*** instead throwing Scott Mitchinson because Kyle says he is a better pitcher..that maybe the case if he is fit and ready…but not after a long spell sidelined..

Umm ill say it agin Todd pitched in BLOWOUT situations which are alot easier. Don played andy because of exprience yer dallas had a good first series and yer andy didnt have the best year but he is alot more exprianced. I agree with the pitching roatation for the last series should of had Dylan start and then go from there.

Taking nothing away from T.K who did an outstanding job, i believe that if a pitcher throws well enough and gets the win then he will generaly get ” 3 votes ” eg (dylan peac***). Maybe we can seperate it and have a “cy young” award for pitchers but name it after ray michell, neil page, parris mitchell, barry stace etc. Then have a “silver slugger” award and name it after kevin hooker, bob ossey, clayton byrne, don knapp etc.Because it is so hard to compare hitters to pitchers. just my thoughts.

Experience over form? Come on now… It is a short season and experience doesn’t score runs or make plays when its out of form… The concern I had was that the coaching staff clearly thought Dallas was required in the side for his bat, so DH’d him in the 8 hole rather than put him ahead of Andy and take a DH type hitter into the game and bat him where he can drive in runs!!!
